List of Ten: Reasons I Want to Embroider

I really feel inspired by embroidery today so I want to tell you why I want to learn so badly:

  1. I want to learn how to embroider because it is another lost art!
  2. Embroidery is so beautiful
  3. I want to frame my work and hang it in my room
  4. It would help with my hand stitching in sewing
  5. I could embroider a pair of jeans
  6. How many people can wear jeans and say they embroidered them?
  7. I want a cool hippie dress to embroider
  8. I would use embroidery in my paintings and drawings- cool, right?
  9. I want to design my own clothes and embroidering them would really be so cool!
  10. It would make me feel more old fashioned, which is my style exactly.

List of Ten: Professions I Would Love

With college coming up soon and all the emails from colleges I have been getting, I thought it would be a good idea to share some of the careers I would choose:
  1. I would love to own a vintage clothing store
  2. I think it would be so cool to be an artist
  3. I would like to be a fashion designer-watch out, Project Runway!
  4. I would like to maybe teach art in high school or elementary school.
  5. Earning money through sponsors on my blog would be a dream come true!
  6. I would love to sell things I make on Etsy, along with vintage clothes
  7. I would teach sewing in a high school.
I can't really think of any more right now, but maybe I will come back and add more later!

List of Ten

I want to share what T.V. shows I am currently loving with you guys!
  1. Mad Men- I cannot believe it took me this long!  I am still on season one!
  2. Adventure Time- Yes, I am one of those people.
  3. Project Runway- I want to be on that show one day!
  4. Gallery Girls- I think New York would actually be a super cool place to live. I like how it is about girls that work in art galleries but my favorite is to see the girls that own a clothing and art boutique.  I hate the drama!
  5. Once Upon a Time- Fairy tales rock!
  6. Bling it on-  It is a new show about a seamstress that makes crazy blinged out dresses.
  7. Victorious- It is a great kids show.  I have the personality of a child, therefore, I love it.
  8. America's Next Top Model- More fashion.  I love it so much!  It makes me wish I could be a photographer or model.
  9. Doctor Who- I saw it when my best friends Lauren and Lauren made me watch it.  I thought it was so stupid and silly that both of my friends watched it. I am an addict now.
  10. Pan Am- The show got cancelled.  The show about 1960s airline stewardesses GOT CANCELLED!!!   I am so upset.

List of Ten: Things I Plan on Doing This Fall

Hello friends!  The fall season really seems to be here!  I came home today and it felt like sweater weather!  It even smells like fall now!  This got me so excited that I took all of my summer clothes down to the depths of my basement and swapped out for fall/winter clothes!  Oh I am so ready!  Anyhoo, this fall I plan on:

  1. Eating chili.  Doesn't that sound incredible right now!?
  2. Wearing tights.  I have never really been a huge tights person but I think I am going to go out and buy many pairs this year!
  3. Crocheting hats, scarves, gloves, afghans, and one sweater.  That is my challenge for this season.  Crocheting, finishing, and wearing a sweater, which, just so you know, terrifies me.
  4. Going thrifting more!  I really have not been going at all lately.  I need to step it up!
  5. Going on adventures and have outfit posts not taken in my room.  I am so sick of taking pictures in the same place!
  6. Embroidering something I wear.  I really want to get into embroidery.
  7. I plan on drinking my weight in hot chocolate several times!
  8. I plan on (possibly) teaching myself to knit.  Just to add that to my creative collection.
  9. I want to sew a wool skirt from a vintage pattern.  I have the supplies, and I think that is what I am going to attempt next in my sewing class!
  10. Taking a breath and trying to relax.  I know that my list doesn't typically fit most peoples' definition of relaxing, but making things is totally a form of therapy for me.
Sorry my post is a day late, it somehow completely slipped my mind!

  4. I wish I could be a great photographer!  I, sadly, am not.
  5. I wish I could be better at doing my AP art homework.  I hate it way too much.  (Is this the same as procrastination?)
  6. I wish I was better at keeping my room clean.  It is a disaster and it drives me insane!
  7. I wish I was better at not spilling food all over.  I am so clumsy and messy.  Meal times are always entertaining.
  8. I wish I were better at managing my time.  Mostly I spend my time on pinterest.
  9. I wish I were better at working out.  I am a lazy bum.
  10. I wish I were better at hair.  Honestly, doing my hair is the worst part of getting ready.

List of Ten: Foods I love

I am a huge lover of food.  I think it is just great.  The trouble is, like most people, my favorite foods are not ones that I could live off of.  Very few are actually healthy.

  1. Pie-I love pie!  My favorites are pecan and frozen lemonade!
  2. Caramel apples- The best caramel apple has caramel, white chocolate, and crushed Oreos.  Is anyone else drooling?
  3. Ice Cream- I love ice cream cones.  They are just too good to not eat every day.
  4. Crazy Bread- The crazy bread from Little Ceasers is so good.  I would totally buy it and leave without pizza.
  5. Brownies-I like the middle pieces that are still gooey!
  6. Fettuccine alfredo- Olive Garden, anyone?
  7. Cheeseburgers- I used to hate them up until a year ago and now I could eat them for every meal!
  8. Smoothies-Finally something healthy!  I love smoothies!  They are one of my favorite breakfasts!
  9. Apples- Apples are the best fruit ever.  And oranges.  and strawberries.  I just love fruit!
  10. Salad- I like healthy ones and unhealthy ones.  I love Wendy's apple pecan chicken salad (healthy) and Cafe Rio's Chicken salad (VERY unhealthy).

List of Ten: Things I will Miss About Summer

  1. No school-  I like school a very large portion of the time.  I am just not ready to give up summer quite yet.
  2. No homework- Seriously.  I could live my whole life without it and be a happy person.
  3. Swimsuits- I love to go swimming.  When it gets colder...you don't swim.
  4. Lazy days- I get all of the hours of the day and I get to do whatever I want with them.
  5. Crafting- When there are so many more hours in the summer you can craft more!
  6. No alarm-  Nothing more to say.
  7. School shopping- School shopping starts the day after school gets out.  I believe that school is a fashion show and should be treated like so.
  8. Warm-  I am not a cold person.  I love it when it is 80 degrees.
  9. Shorts-  As I mentioned last year, there were a couple times where the french teacher at my high school did not approve of my shorts.  I still will never understand why she picks on me instead of the girls that like their bums to show.
  10. Adventures- What is it about Summer that makes adventuring so much more fun?

  4. Antique glass bottles- I must own over a hundred!
  5. Nail polish- A girl can never own too much!
  6. Vintage dresses- Duh!
  7. Vintage fabric- I love it!  When my sewing skills are impressive enough, I will make thousands of 1950s inspired dresses!
  8. Vintage pearl necklaces- I can never get enough of them!  Layering them is my favorite!
  9. Vintage stationery-  Hand written notes are a lost art and it makes me so sad!  That is something that I wish was still around.
  10. Buttons- I love the look of a jar full of buttons.  And when I am able to sew amazing things, this collection will come in handy!

List of Ten: Random Things I Love

  1. Old family movies.  I like the funny ones of me when I was little but I really love the old ones of my grandma when she was tiny.  My grandparents have old movies from when my grandma was a little girl and when my mom was a baby.  I love watching all of the fun things my family used to do.  I'm very jealous I missed out!
  2. Record players.  I think they are so fun and interesting.  I would rather have a record player in my room over my stereo.
  3. Vintage nightgowns. They are so pretty and fun.  They are my version of pajamas!  I feel like a princess every time I go to bed!
  4. Pink hair.  I know I talk about it all the time, but it is just too fun.
  5. Magazines.  I love to look at all of the ads.  If there are cute pictures I like I cut them out and keep them in my style binder.  I have a hundred magazines and hundreds of cutouts.
  6. I Love Lucy.  I have a collection of her greatest episodes and I laugh and laugh.  They are so silly!
  7. Nail polish.  I love painting my nails in fun, unique ways.  I haven't worn nail polish in a couple of weeks. That is very strange for me and I think I should be concerned!
  8. Homemade dresses.  They have a certain charm to them.  I think it is the thought of all of the time a person put into them and how they can put their personality into them too!  The personalized fabric and pattern choices are what make the dress!  I have only sewn one myself with the help of my aunt Jackie, but I buy them all of the time from thrift stores and estate sales!  The older the better!
  9. Homemade icecream.  It tastes so good!
  10. Taking pictures.  I would love to become a good photographer!  I love putting up pictures on Hot Diggity and using it as my way to remember my life.  This is my form of journaling!

List of Ten: Artists I Listen to

I love music so much!  I sing (probably not so well) all over the house!  Most of my favorite songs just so happen to be oldies!

  1. Angus and Julia Stone- They are one of the few modern day artists that I love so much!  Of course, no one really knows who they are because they are Australian so ...
  2. Kay Starr- She was popular in the 1950s.  I love her song Rock and Roll Waltz!  It is just so happy and fun!
  3. Perry Como- I love Hot Diggity!  That song was what I named my blog (and shop) after!
  4. Doris Day- Her movies are so cute and so is her music!  I love Que Sera!
  5. Dean Martin- Ain't that a Kick in the Head is such a good song!
  6. Gogi Grant- My favorite is Wayward Wind
  7. Ella Fitzgerald- I love Cheek to Cheek!
  8. The Beach Boys!  They are playing at The Stadium of Fire this year.  I want to go so so bad!!!
  9. Kansas- I love Carry on My Wayward Son.
  10. Aerosmith- Okay, I love Steven Tyler!  Too bad I'm not into American Idol...  I love their music so much!  My favorite is definitely Rag Doll!
So you can see my love of all things old, yes?  I love the old lifestyle, clothes, music, cars, houses, everything!  My friends always poke fun at me because I will just sort of sing to myself during lunch and the songs are always silly oldies!  I wont even notice that people are staring at me.  Or maybe I am just used to getting strange looks?  Hmm....

2-6 remind me of my grandma and grandpa in St. George because that is what we listen to when I stay with her during the summer!  And speaking of, I really hope I get to go stay with my grandparents soon!

List of Ten: Things You May (not) Know About Me

  1. I will change my clothes around three times a day.  Not including getting ready for the day.  That could add so many more times.
  2. I love to ride bikes.  I need a new one so I will stop stealing my mom's!  A vintage Schwinn would be ideal!
  3. I am awful at math.  I am in 10th grade and am taking Algebra 1 for the third year in a row.
  4. I am currently using three closets, two dressers, and a rack in my basement for clothing storage.  That may indicate that I love clothes.  Or that I have a serious problem.
  5. I am sixteen and don't have a driver's license.  I cannot wait to drive myself all over the place!
  6. I would rather have a closet full of vintage clothes than new clothes from the store.  Old clothes hold so much more character and no one ever wears the same thing!
  7. I cannot sew well but I will because I am taking four sewing classes next year!  I can finally use my vintage patterns I collect!
  8. I have just as many oldies on my ipod as I do any other genre.  They are all so happy and fun!
  9. I love hot chocolate!  I will drink it any time I am offered it!
  10. I sell vintage clothes!  I sell them out of my house right now, but I am going to have a boutique as soon as I can!

List of Ten: Books

Books are so hard for me.  I know what I enjoy and do not like, and there really aren't any in the middle.  I am a picky reader.  Young adult books are very difficult too because they are so different, and I will not lie: I have started reading many books that I have never finished because of how wildly inappropriate and...well inappropriate they were!

So here is my list of ten books you should check out (in no particular order)!

  1. Anna and the French Kiss- This book is about an American girl who is sent to a boarding school in France.  This is for girls who like realistic, romance, or just funny.  I love Ettiene!
  2. Lola and the Boy Next Door- This is a sort of sequel to Anna and the French Kiss.  It follows a different set of main characters, but Anna plays a small part in this one as well.
  3. The City of Bones- This must be my favorite series of all time!  The story takes place in modern day New York.  It follows Clary, who goes on an adventure full of magic and demons.  And there is an extremely hot guy in it.  This is actually being made into a movie right now!  Since I mentioned that, I must complain who has been cast as said hot guy. Because there are so many books in the series, I will only mention them once on my book list.  Note: the series is actually called The Immortal Instruments
  4. Evermore-  I loved this book when I first read it, and I still do.  It is about a girl named Evermore who meets a hot guy.  There is lots of cool magic and psychic things.  The author does this very well and you can tell she did lots of research. This series is called The Immortals
  5. The Uglies- This is a futuristic series.  Girls are considered "Uglies" until the day they turn sixteen, where they undergo plastic surgery to become "Pretties".  This book follows the problems with society, and adventure.  There are four books in this series.
  6. The Host- The Host was actually written by Stephanie Meyer, the author of the Twilight saga.  But if you weren't a vampire lover, it is okay, because those books are not going to make this list because I didn't care for them either.  This is another futuristic society book about aliens that take over human's bodies and create a "perfect Earth".  The only problem is one body's mind is still conscious and will not let the alien take over.  This is being made into a movie.
  7. The Hunger Games- I know it is a little late to be recommending this because everyone has gone absolutely nuts over the series and movie, but if you have not read it yet...start!
  8. Harry Potter- Okay...VERY late on this series, but I just read them this year for the first time!  I loved them!  I had seen every movie, so I figured I should see what started them!  Plus, These books are where my nickname, Luna, originated.  I am told weekly by a different person that I freakishly resemble and act like Luna Lovegood (Who comes in the fifth book).
  9. Matched- Yet another futuristic society book.  This one is about a future where teenagers are given matches, whom they will marry.  The matches are based off of genetics and probability for the most perfect race and who you will most likely love.  Everything in this world is monitored by the government-even your dreams.
  10. Beverly Cleary's First Love Collection- This is actually three books, but I could not resist gushing about all of them!  These were written in the 1950s about three different teenage girls who find love and go through life.  I love these because the world back then was so much more respectable and classy!
If you could not yet tell, I am a huge reader!  I love books!  Regrettably, I have been in such a rut!  I cannot find any good books at all!  It has been a few months, and I am going bonkers.  I hope this list helps anyone with the same problem as me!  If anyone has good books, please comment below!  I would love to hear what you have to say!

Ten Reasons Why:

I have been really thinking about school, with grades and registration these last two weeks.  I registered yesterday for next year's classes.  I am getting good grades... but I do not want to go to my high school.  My grandparents who live in St. George first put the thought in my head to go live with them and go to the performing arts high school last year when I stayed with them for two weeks.  At first I just blew off the idea because it sounded crazy.  Now, I want to go more than anything.  Here is why:

  1. It is a performing arts school  I am sure It will not be like on TV, but it does sound much more fun than a typical high school.  Besides, I am more artistic anyway for sure.
  2. It is so warm in St. George  I know I mentioned my hatred for the cold.
  3. I can navigate St. George better than anywhere else I have ever been, including my hometown.  When my aunt uncle and cousin take me, I can take them just about anywhere.
  4. It wouldn't cost any tuition.  It is a free school!
  5. I adore dancing.  I used to be on a dance team last year, before I took a break.
  6. I also love to sing in the shower...lessons could benefit anyone.
  7. My dad wants me to start acting again like I used to.  I was Tinkerbell in Peter Pan and Alice in Alice in Wonderland.  I loved to act before junior high school (the black hole of your life) ripped out any confidence I entered with.  Confidence returned.
  8. They focus on the arts.  Including drawing. Sound like me yet?
  9. St. George just makes me very happy.  I always seem to be happiest in St. George. It is relaxing, slow paced and small.  Just my style.
  10. This could be a fresh start for me ...and sometimes that seems like something I could use.
There really is not anything wrong with where I live currently. I have great friends and live in a great neighborhood.  It would be so sad to tell everyone goodbye.  But this is a once in  a lifetime chance.  Once I leave high school...I cannot go to a performing arts high school!  Maybe I sound crazy to some but oh my word!  I want this so bad.

Here is a wishlist of things that would be swell for my birthday!

  2. Vintage clothes, of course!
  3. Lomography camera!  Oh, how I would adore to own one!  This will be on a wishlist for the rest of my life.

  7. A nook or kindle. I read like a crazy person.
  8. Pop art camera  It is currently on sale for $5!
  9. Have yous seen those books with all of your blog posts in it?  I think it would be cool to get one with every year.  That could be from age fifteen and earlier!
  10. I am going on a limb here, but how about an old Ford truck?  A vintage convertible mustang?  No?

Ten Reasons Why:

I make lists.  It is something I have always done, and always will.  This is just another way for me to list things off.
Today I was asked why I strongly dislike winter.  One answer will never do, so here are my ten reasons why:

  1. Winter is cold, and the cold stings.
  2. Adventures are postponed until the weather is more pleasant.
  3. I trip on air.  Mix slush with slick tile and me in heels.  It is not good.  I actually fell today...
  4. I hate being wet.  Walking to and from the bus stop with snow on the ground leads to soggy socks and pant legs.
  5. I cannot wear my favorite outfit, which happens to be a summer dress.
  6. coloring with side walk chalk is not enjoyable in the cold.
  7. There aren't pretty and bright colors in nature.
  8. The grass is yellow and crunchy.
  9. I cannot read outside in a swimsuit on grass.  There are many reasons why.
  10. I cannot run around barefoot. During the summer, everything is barefoot.
Does anyone agree with me?  What are your reasons for loving or disliking winter?

Ten Things You May (not) Know About Me

You probably know by now that I am a girly-girl, and I love photography. You probably also know that I have an incredibly large love for anything vintage. I wanted to share some things about myself that you might not have known until now.

  1. I have a great love for light pink hair. I love things that stand out, and I am not afraid to be different. Pink hair fits both of these two short descriptions. I think it is girly and pretty. It also says that you should not be afraid to be yourself (no matter how crazy)!

  2. I am constantly striving to be a better person. I go through a lot of self-evaluations and small steps every day. I want to be seen as a kind and good person.

  3. Believe it or not-I used to be the ultimate tom-boy. It was jeans or sweatpants with a T-shirt and jacket every day. Yikes. I was completely against anything with ruffles or pink. Crazy, right?

  4. I am in love with hiphop. I love to dance. I do not do ballet, jazz, or lyrical. I am strictly hip hop. I love the strong beats and big movements!

  5. I cannot tie a nice-looking bow for my life. You would think by now I would have mastered that simple action, but no. They always end up lopsided. My mom laughs at me everytime I wear a blouse that ties before she fixes it.

  6. I am a giant bookworm. When I get into a book, reading is all I will do for six hours straight, leave a quick break to eat, and get back to more reading. I read six-hundred page books in less than two days from cover to cover.

  7. Curling my hair is something I continue to fail at. The curls do not stay or look right. Lucky for me, I have a hair styling mom to make amazing curls any time I feel the need to have pretty hair. Do not judge. No one is perfect.

  8. I am an early bird. I wake up at 5am every day during the week, and try to be up at 7am or earlier on weekends. I also go to bed before 10pm. Staying up late is not one of my talents.

  9. I am an artist. I do not like to say that often because I feel like I am bragging or saying that I think highly of myself. I used to draw constantly and I improved because of it. As of late, I haven't hardly drawn at all and it shows. I am currently working on getting back into the habbit.

  10. I am known for my handwriting. People say it looks like something that was just printed or caligraphy. It used to be messy and ugly, so one day I sat myself down for hours and just wrote over and over again. Now, it is pretty and my next task at hand is cursive. I know it is silly because we all spent the later years of elementary writing everything in cursive, but I cannot remember a darn thing. I can sign my name, and that is just about it.

I hope that this has entertained or possibly helped you get to know me better!
