It's the Little Things...

• I am a blogging machine! I am so organized now and  with the new school year coming ...I hope I can keep it up!
• I went to Park City! I love it there.  We went to the outlets but... my favorite store was the animal shelter!
• I bound my own book! ahem-or my own planner.  This is going to save me, this blog, and my grades when school starts.
• I finished my crocheted blanket! It is not bad for a first blanket!  I am so excited to share it with you!
• My mom, sister, and I went to estate sales and guess what?!  I scored some amazing finds!

What I Wore: 8-9-12

Summer is coming to a close and school is going to start soon!  Is everyone ready?  I am!  I am excited to go back to school and begin another fashion show!  I am typically very unsocial during the summer too because I spend most of my time crafting or reading or just doing whatever it is I do (I still haven't really figured that out).   It will be nice to talk with humans outside of my family again.

Weekly Craft: Make Your Own Book!

This week I made my own book and I want to share with you how I did it!

Supplies:

• paper- I used 40 printer paper sheets
• needle- for handsewing
• thread
• mod podge & brush
• fabric
• cardboard
• fabric scrap 
• ribbon
• scissors

1. Get 4 pieces of paper and fold them in half inside of each other.

 2. Sew the four papers together.  I measured 1 inch into the paper and made the two stitches on each end 1 inch long.  Repeat until you have used all of your paper and have 10 sewn packs sections of paper

3.sew in and out of the holes you have made.  Go back and forth.

4. Mod Podge the end of your bound paper. Put heavy things on top of it and let it dry.  I left mine over night but you probably wouldn't have to.

5.  Cut out pieces of cardboard for your spine and two cover pages.  I just traced a real book.  You can do this while your bound pages are drying.

6. Put your ribbon (starting at the top of your book's spine) and place your fabric scrap covered in mod podge over it.  You want the scrap to be shorter than your book and wider than your spine.  Sorry, I don't measure things so I don't have measurements.  Make your piece of ribbon a little longer than double the length of your book.  You can cut it shorter later.

 7.Cut out your fabric to cover your cardboard pieces.  Make the four edges at least 1 inch longer than the cardboard.  Cover the cardboard in mod podge and place on the back of your fabric.  Leave a small space between cover-spine-cover.

8. Fold and glue the corners of your book onto the cardboard.

9. Fold and glue all four edges over the corners

10. Cover in mod podge and center the bound pages by lining spines together.  Press end pages on both sides of papers onto mod podge.  This will cover the fabric edges and make sure the book stays together.

I put heavy things on top of it again while it dried just to be safe.

 What a busy couple of days.  I have crocheted, needle point, made a book, cleaned bottles full of 60-90 year old yucky stuff, and cleaned my room.  Whew!  Let me catch my breath for a second...

List of Ten: Things I will Miss About Summer

1. No school-  I like school a very large portion of the time.  I am just not ready to give up summer quite yet.
2. No homework- Seriously.  I could live my whole life without it and be a happy person.
3. Swimsuits- I love to go swimming.  When it gets colder...you don't swim.
4. Lazy days- I get all of the hours of the day and I get to do whatever I want with them.
5. Crafting- When there are so many more hours in the summer you can craft more!
6. No alarm-  Nothing more to say.
7. School shopping- School shopping starts the day after school gets out.  I believe that school is a fashion show and should be treated like so.
8. Warm-  I am not a cold person.  I love it when it is 80 degrees. 
9. Shorts-  As I mentioned last year, there were a couple times where the french teacher at my high school did not approve of my shorts.  I still will never understand why she picks on me instead of the girls that like their bums to show.
10. Adventures- What is it about Summer that makes adventuring so much more fun?

What I Wore: Reading Alice in Wonderland

 I loved the Alice in Wonderland movies.  I love to read.  So why, until now, have I never read the book!?  That is a question that will forever go unanswered.  But so far, I love it!

I really want to blog a ton more this coming school year.  It is one of my goals. And with the planner I just made (see tutorial this Thursday!!)  I hope to be much more organized!

July In Review

The summer has just flew past me.  It has left me wondering as to what I have even done.  I have truly been slacking on the blog posts, which really, is nothing new, I did crochet a good amount, dressed up, went to girls camp, camping with my family, took a trip to the zoo, so...I guess I have done a lot!  I am going to treasure my last chunk of summer!
