What I Wore: 4-28-12

 I walked out my front door to take outfit pictures and found my friends! Yay friends!  We hung out some and I got to try on my awesome vintage prom dress for them(which they loved)!! Nina is on the left and Anna is to my right.

I love this dress so much!  I haven't worn it since last spring!  This week has been full of so many of those darn casual days so I knew I had to make up for it!  This outfit totally makes me feel like I should be in an episode of Mad Men. I love vintage wiggle dresses!

Its the Little Things:

  • Remember my big surprise? I am going to prom!!!  I did not want to announce it until after I answered the boy.
  • I am going to prom with a boy I do not know.  It is pure luck I am going to a prom this year!  you see, I am not going to my school's prom.  I am going to a friend's friend's friend's prom.  Need more explaining?  Anna was asked to prom by a friend she has known since birth.  He has a best friend who needed a date.  I didn't have a date, and really wanted to go to prom.  Fate!
  • You can bet that my prom dress is vintage but you will have to wait until next Friday to see it!
  • I stayed home sick two days this week.  It is not fun being sick, but it was nice to have a break from school.  No worries, I will get my grades up, Mom!
  • ...I fell down the stairs...again.  And I have a ginormous bruise to show for it on my shin.

Sunday's Style: 4-22-12

 Sorry for the lack of posts as of late...I haven't hardly been home at all for the last two weeks.  As I mentioned yesterday, my social life exploded in a good way.  I wont complain but I realize I need to make time for the little old blog.

I love this dress. I was completely psyched to wear it because I think we can officially say spring is here!  I have moved all of my winter clothes onto the basement clothes rack and brought up all of my dresses and spring/summer clothes!  This dress might be difficult to let go of....I have grown fond of it!  When I find vintage clothes I get happy.  When I find home-made vintage clothes I do a little dance in my head!  Well, sometimes I can't contain it.  I just have to do the happy dance wherever I am standing...

What I Wore: Betsey Johnson Dress

While I was away on my trip to Las Vegas and St. George, we went to Betsey Johnson.  She is my all time favorite designer along with Jeffery Campbell... I like the crazy stuff.  But I had to try something on whether I could afford it or not, right?  Well I found a dress that Had a vintage look to it.  It is gorgeous, I am still dreaming about it.  It was five hundred dollars.  The shoes were Two fifty.  I never bothered to look at the price of the bolero.

Anna actually bought the dress she is wearing.  It was on sale.  It is so adorable on her!

List of Ten: Books

Books are so hard for me.  I know what I enjoy and do not like, and there really aren't any in the middle.  I am a picky reader.  Young adult books are very difficult too because they are so different, and I will not lie: I have started reading many books that I have never finished because of how wildly inappropriate and...well inappropriate they were!

So here is my list of ten books you should check out (in no particular order)!

  1. Anna and the French Kiss- This book is about an American girl who is sent to a boarding school in France.  This is for girls who like realistic, romance, or just funny.  I love Ettiene!
  2. Lola and the Boy Next Door- This is a sort of sequel to Anna and the French Kiss.  It follows a different set of main characters, but Anna plays a small part in this one as well.
  3. The City of Bones- This must be my favorite series of all time!  The story takes place in modern day New York.  It follows Clary, who goes on an adventure full of magic and demons.  And there is an extremely hot guy in it.  This is actually being made into a movie right now!  Since I mentioned that, I must complain who has been cast as said hot guy. Because there are so many books in the series, I will only mention them once on my book list.  Note: the series is actually called The Immortal Instruments
  4. Evermore-  I loved this book when I first read it, and I still do.  It is about a girl named Evermore who meets a hot guy.  There is lots of cool magic and psychic things.  The author does this very well and you can tell she did lots of research. This series is called The Immortals
  5. The Uglies- This is a futuristic series.  Girls are considered "Uglies" until the day they turn sixteen, where they undergo plastic surgery to become "Pretties".  This book follows the problems with society, and adventure.  There are four books in this series.
  6. The Host- The Host was actually written by Stephanie Meyer, the author of the Twilight saga.  But if you weren't a vampire lover, it is okay, because those books are not going to make this list because I didn't care for them either.  This is another futuristic society book about aliens that take over human's bodies and create a "perfect Earth".  The only problem is one body's mind is still conscious and will not let the alien take over.  This is being made into a movie.
  7. The Hunger Games- I know it is a little late to be recommending this because everyone has gone absolutely nuts over the series and movie, but if you have not read it yet...start!
  8. Harry Potter- Okay...VERY late on this series, but I just read them this year for the first time!  I loved them!  I had seen every movie, so I figured I should see what started them!  Plus, These books are where my nickname, Luna, originated.  I am told weekly by a different person that I freakishly resemble and act like Luna Lovegood (Who comes in the fifth book).
  9. Matched- Yet another futuristic society book.  This one is about a future where teenagers are given matches, whom they will marry.  The matches are based off of genetics and probability for the most perfect race and who you will most likely love.  Everything in this world is monitored by the government-even your dreams.
  10. Beverly Cleary's First Love Collection- This is actually three books, but I could not resist gushing about all of them!  These were written in the 1950s about three different teenage girls who find love and go through life.  I love these because the world back then was so much more respectable and classy!
If you could not yet tell, I am a huge reader!  I love books!  Regrettably, I have been in such a rut!  I cannot find any good books at all!  It has been a few months, and I am going bonkers.  I hope this list helps anyone with the same problem as me!  If anyone has good books, please comment below!  I would love to hear what you have to say!

What I Wore: 4-9-12 Part Two

 I went for a very comfortable, hippy style for my second outfit today.  It is a prairie dress I have been waiting all winter to wear!  I typically find a lot of off season clothes at thrift stores.

Mixed bracelets-Thrifted;
Vintage necklaces-Estate sales;
Prairie dress- Thrift store;
Gladiator sandals-Khols;
Mixed vintage rings-Thrifted;
Fabric headband-Made by me;

I really wanted to take outfit pictures at the park, but it was so crowded!  And there was a group of boys from my school.  As confident in my style as I am, I still did not want to have to explain my unusual behavior to anybody.

What I Wore: 4-9-12

 Tomorrow I head out to Las Vegas!  I am going with my wonderful friend, Anna.  I will be gone from Tuesday to Friday, so no outfit posts for a little bit.  BUT I have scheduled a fun little posting series to take its place.  You can probably tell from the above picture that I am a die hard over packer.  I cannot help it.

 Jump for joy!  It's finally spring break!  And it feels like summer!
Shirt-Khols;
Shorts-D.I.;
Necklace-gifted;

Check in later, because I just might have another outfit for today in the making.  This stinking shirt is scratching my arms up very badly, and is just uncomfortable!

Easter 2012

 Easter started out with my sister and I walking into the front room to see Harley, my dog, eating the boiled eggs shell and all. Yummy.

 We went to my grandma's house for lunch and a family Easter egg hunt for the kids.  My cousin Maddi is on the right.

 Here is my grandpa!
 This is my cousin Mckenzie with my sister, Avery.

What I Wore: 4-7-12

 Tonight I went to a concert in the park with my mom, sister, grandma, and grandpa.  The band was really good!  It was just so cold!  Some people had their own unique ways to stay warm.  While my family had blankets pulled up to our chins while we sat in chairs, others, like a fifty year old woman, were dancing.  She wasn't the only one dancing, but what made her dancing unique was her...style?  This lady was behind her husband grabbing his...ahem...bum.  Then she was on the ground moving around, whipping her hair, she was all over the place.  There was a comment saying that it is not the same without a pole!  Watching her was half the fun.  I wanted to take my camera and record her so badly.  I don't think she would have minded either.
